ALERT - TECH SUPPORT PHONE SCAMS

 Veterans have reported being Scammed by Calls out of India
 There has been a surge of  reports again about people being scammed by calls from India claiming to be Microsoft, Dell, or Google Tech support, or in recent cases have said they are computer company your are contracted with   Remember, never allow anyone in your computer, or provide anyone with your personal information if the contact is not made by you with the telephone numbers provided on your warranty or given to you during the program you attended.  One of our veterans was recently victimized and others are receiving cold calls from Indian Speaking persons, which many of you relate to Dell, one of the contractors you may have received your computer from.  Here are a few examples of what they will tell you.

Þ Trick you into installing malicious software that could capture sensitive data, such as online banking user names and passwords. They might also then charge you to remove this software.

Þ Take control of your computer remotely and adjust settings to leave your computer vulnerable.

Þ Request credit card information so they can bill you for phony services.

Þ Direct you to fraudulent websites and ask you to enter credit card and other personal or financial information there.
